I want to write a poem
but I don't know what to write.
The right words, I don't know'em;
and my head feels rather light.
My lyric voice is hoarse,
my writing hand is weary,
my drafts are awful coarse,
my themes are very dreary.
I want to write in verse.
I want to slant a rime.
But my muse is perverse:

My metric is inconstant.
Apparently, I've lost the ability to count.
I can't even keep
the same number of lines in every
stanza.
At least I haven't resorted
to visual poetry just yet.

I write poetry and doodle.

Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven
