This is my test machine running Compiz Fusion on the Ubuntu 8.10 (codenamed Intrepid Ibex) Beta released October 2nd. There are still lots of minor bugs, but nothing serious - it's more stable than Windows and very well-suited for use. I have uploaded a few more screenshots of the Beta running desktop effects to my Scrapbook here: [link]

There are several instructions and wallpaper packs online for people who want to turn their desktops into little Earths. This is just one of them.

The Skydome used for this setup was made by ~Matiee :iconmatiee: so if you like it, please drop by his page and show him your appreciation.

Awesome! I should grab the new plugin too!
In fact I'm also thinking of trying Interpid...
You should, it's been stable since Beta (although the Legacy Nvidia drivers have been working up since the latest kernel updates...)

:handshake: Hooray for linux. Sometimes I wonder why I stick with windows...

Well, gaming and photoshop, Winamp... probably only reasons. I used to use fedora and ubuntu. :)

Ah, I miss Winamp... Well, actuallyI don't missi it since I still use it in my windows box. Mainly I use Rhythmbox now, because I hate the new Amarok.

You could do like I do, and keep a Windows partition around for gaming. I do everything else in Ubuntu, including the rare occasions when I use Photoshop instead of GIMP. Photoshop up to CS3 runs perfectly in Wine. I couldn't install CS4, though.
