Hello, Deviants! ¡Saludos de Perú!
I've been on hiatus for almost two years. This is where most people would say that "real life got in the way", but isn't photography a part of real life? In the words of the great French director Jean-Luc Godard, "Photography is the Truth". He goes on to say that "Cinema is the Truth 24 times per second" but that's his trade, after all. No, I was gone because
other aspects of real life got in the way. But I have the time to express myself with the help of my cameras again, so please welcome me back.
I return with a new avatar and a new outlook. You've noticed that before this journal update I've already been stealthily posting some deviations. Or maybe you haven't, in which case I'm telling you. Behold:

A lot of things have happened, not all of which were completely unpleasant, and the result of all that is that I needed a change of air. I figured the air was bound to be different 3000m further from sea level, so I moved from my comfy penthouse in Belo Horizonte, Brazil to a small room in the city of Huancavelica, in the Peruvian Andes. I should be back in August, save a radical change of plans, but until then here I am. The city is quiet, peaceful and surrounded by beautiful mountains where I can do my meditating and soul-searching unmolested by such bothersome things as the awful sounds and smells of a city, the oppressive lack of vegetation and singing birds, and the distracting presence of other human beings. Amazingly enough, I've been in Peru for almost two months already, and have yet to see a single llama!
I still have two more months, so we'll see if I get lucky. The university that I'm using as an excuse to come soul-searching in the mountains is a terribly disorganized little mess, and they don't even have a proper school calendar. As a result, I was simply unable to make travel plans of any kind with any sort of forethought. So I won't get to visit Macchu Picchu, unfortunately. And from the looks of it I won't be able to visit any part of the country at all except for the province around this little town, which fortunately, is drop-dead gorgeous in its own right.

Things like warm water, red meat and Internet access aren't the most common commodity in a remote mountain town like this, so I won't promise daily updates. However, I will be around with a certain regularity.
In other words, my dear deviants, I'm back for good and you had better be ready for me.
Cheers!
